Biography
Dennis Coburn was educated and lived in Port Jefferson, NY for nearly a half century. He loves Long Island from Montauk to Manhattan and his artwork truly reflects that love.
In 1963 Dennis was accepted to the prestigious Paier School of Art where he majored in Advertising Design and graduated with honors. He also earned top honors in Commercial Art and Design from the renowned School of Visual Arts in New York City.
During his tour of duty in the United States Air Force he was called upon by the Air Force Exhibit Group to paint depictions of United States Air Craft used in WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He also produced many paintings illustrating the Space Age Programs of the 60’s and 70’s. Both exhibits were part of the 1971 Medal of Honor exhibit at the Pentagon and Dennis is a proud recipient of The Commendation Medal for his outstanding artwork.
Following an exemplary military tour in 1972, Dennis embarked on what has been an outstanding and fulfilling career in art. Accomplishments in his art career include:
• Major League Baseball brochure design
• Illustration projects for the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson
• Batten, Barton, Durston and Osborn Advertising Agency of Manhattan
• Project designs for Diane Von Furstenburg Eyeware at Spaceworks Design Studio
• Co-partner of Coburn & Coburn Advertising and Public Relations, Inc.
• Design for The Port Jefferson Steamboat Company
Since 1964 Dennis has won numerous awards for his art in many exhibits and prominent galleries throughout the Long Island and New York City region. His art may be seen at galleries, museums, Port Jefferson Ferry and many gift stores around Long Island.
